Road Side Attractions

Hey guys, Wrennie here! I hope you guys had a good Thanksgiving. We ate SO MUCH! And guess what...it snowed! We spent the weekend playing in it, but all that cold made me think of all the awesome things we did this summer.

We found a whole bunch of old abandoned buildings.

My mom and aunt really liked how this one looked:

Don't worry we didn't get out or anything. It's just something we like to look at while we drive around!
We didn't want to have to dig ourselves out when it collapsed on us :P -Chloe

We did eventually find this old giant pump thing and took this picture on the stairs:

Also we looked around for road side attractions! Things like giant rubber band balls and this:

It's the largest lump of coal from this certain mine. Oklahoma was full of mines I guess! It stood at the old high school of this one town and there was supposed to be a museum but we never found it.
I guess there were a lot of ghost towns in Oklahoma because they were mining towns that got abandoned when the mines ran out (or exploded like this one) - Penny

Also at the high school was this little castle:

Apparently it was built by German prisoners of war! That's what mom says P.O.W. stands for.

 I don't know why it was in Oklahoma but those prisoners sure put a lot of effort into it.

We had to get a picture next to it!

Wrennie tripped about about fell over while our aunt was trying to take the picture! -Chloe

There was one thing we wanted to find more than anything else! We spent forever looking around this little town for it. Our directions led us to this really really creepy part and my mom and aunt locked all the car doors! But then we figured out that there were two streets named the same thing. Isn't that silly? 

 

We finally found the right street and on the way I took a picture of this cool bison statue.

And then we were there!!

It was really neat and HUGE but it wasn't a real peanut. It was just made out of plaster or something. We were super excited to see it anyway!

That's because the real and original peanut got stolen a long time ago! So they had to put a fake one. -Callie

It's really fun to look back at everything we did!

Southfork Ranch

Hey everybody, Callie here! School is back in session and while we are all busy with our new school year stuff, we're still on sharing vacation pictures here on the blog! Remember how we went to Dallas recently? Well, while we were there we got to visit Southfork Ranch! It's about half an hour or so away from the store we went to in that post, in a town called Parker.

If you haven't heard of Southfork Ranch, don't worry, I am here to tell you! Southfork is the home of the Ewings, the really rich oil tycoon family of the tv show Dallas which is one of my favorite tv shows ever! Well, the older one anyway! Dallas was on tv from 1978 to 1991, which was a long time before I was born. There were two movies from 1996 and 1998 and then a brand new tv show about the kids, who were now grown up, on TNT for two seasons in 2012. That makes it one of the longest running tv shows!

We took almost 100 pictures from Southfork but here are some of our favorites.

Fun Times at Eufaula Lake!

Hi everybody! I get to introduce myself today, isn't that cool? I'm Penelope, but a lot of people just call me Penny. I'm Callie's younger sister. We have a brother between us (Finch goes between us!) I'm sure that by now you know that we're a family circus. Well, MY job in the circus is the magician and the tightrope/high wire walker. I take gymnastics with my siblings, too. Also, like my big sister and my cousins, I love Batman! And my best best BEST friend in the WHOLE world is my cousin Chloe who you'll meet officially soon, but you've seen pictures of her!

On our family vacation, one of the cool things that we got to do was visit Arrowhead State Park, which is on Eufaula Lake. "Eufaula" is the name of a former tribe that's now a part the Muscogee Creek Nation. It's pronounced like You-Fall-Uh.  

-The Muscogee Creek Nation is a confederacy of other tribes which have all come together to make the big nation! Also if you're talking about the city in Oklahoma, it's with a K. Muskogee. But anything tribe-related is with a C, Muscogee. Isn't that neat? :) - Callie

Vacation Post 1

Hey guys, Wren here. I'm back from visiting my cousins! Callie, Penny, Chloe and I have a lot to show you guys. We had so much fun stuff happen! Today though I'm just going to tell you about getting to Callie's house and getting our sisters back.

This is me Thursday morning:

My mom and dad drove me and my brothers ALL the way over to my Auntie and Uncle's house. It wasn't that long of a trip but I was SO excited that it seemed like it took all day!
You should have been waiting here!! I thought they were driving BACKWARD they were going so slowly!!  -Callie

After we got settled and the boys ran off to play, Callie's mom took us girls out for lunch.

We went to Red Robin (LOL) I had chicken strips but Callie had this giant burger! Then we did a little bit of shopping. I got new sunglasses!

Friday morning Callie and I got up extra early!

Almost before the sun. Because we were headed to Dallas!! Matching Batman shirts FTW!

Callie and I played with our dolls in the back seat.

This drive really did take all morning but we were having so much fun playing with Sadie and Julie that before we knew it we were in Texas:

And a little while after that we hit Dallas.

It was a really pretty city. I liked all the big glass buildings!

Callie really liked that all the bridges were decorated. Some had stars on them. It was pretty cool!

Finally we were at the place we were supposed to meet Aunt Aggie and the little girls!

It seemed like we had to wait FOREVER but just a few minutes later look who showed up:

No those aren't her real bangs :P I was so glad to see her! Chloe is my best friend in the whole world other than Callie!

We all decided we wanted to go shopping at this special girls' place Aunt Aggie owns. She sells really nice dolls and clothes for the dolls and girls! But to get there we had to go up this super scary ramp thing!

I was really afraid someone was going to go down it while we were trying to go up!

We made is safely though. Here is me and Callie in front of a big picture.

 

Callie ended up getting that dress!

We didn't take a lot of pictures (we were too busy catching up!) but there were lots of girls modeling clothes. This one even had a dog with her!

Chloe almost got that outfit. She liked the sparkly shorts but in the end she got other things!

After shopping the grownups decided to treat us to a really nice lunch! I couldn't believe we got to eat somewhere so fancy:

Even the bathrooms were extra fancy!

We all got strawberry lemonade and two forks. Can you believe that?!

They even gave us fancy bread and butty while we waiting for our food!

We all decided to get BLTs and Italian soup! It was a real ladies' lunch.

I think that was the fanciest meal I've ever had. I know I felt really grown up!

When we were all done with lunch we went on to have a lot of other adventures before we went back to Callie's house. But those are stories for different posts, and I'm not the only one who is going to tell you about them!

I do want to show you guys what we all got at the store though! Penny got this doll:

Her name is Addy and I'm sure that Penny will tell you all about her later.

Penny also got a purple hoodie and grey pants with blue stars!

She's going to look really good in that!

Callie already has a doll so she just got clothes.

She bought a grey, shimmery skirt, a sparkly, pink sweater and puple ankle boots!

Chloe got a doll too:

Her name is Rebbecca and she wants to be a movie star just like my sister!

Now I don't have a doll from Aunt Aggie's yet. But that's because the one I want wasn't going to come out till after we got home from vacation! That's okay though. I still have Sadie and I didn't feel left out!

I still got a brand new outfit! I got a pair of silver pants, a red shirt with the name of the store on it and silver tennies! It was a REALLY fun time! But our vacation posts aren't over yet.

Penny and Chloe are really excited to introduce themselves and we've all got more awesome stuff to show you! I hope you guys are ready to see.

Play Date in the Garden

Hey guys, Wrennie here.

Today I had a play date with some new friends!

Come on Batman! Let's go!

I was really excited but also a little nervous. So of course I wore my lucky shirt and brought Batman!

We went to this place called Oaklawn Garden.

Isn't the sign super cool?

This is the first thing we saw:

There are lots of buildings on the property. That building is kind of a museum though they just got rid of a lot of stuff. There's still an old fire engine in there though. The orange thing with the bars next to it was the old jail and then next to that is the house!

We decided to come back to all that later and instead walked a little bit till we found a rail car and a caboose.

Anne, Zia and Me!

I guess I should introduce everyone now! These are my new friends Anne (she's the one wearing red) and Zia! We decided to set up a table and have a little Easter snack. Yum!

After that Zia and I decided to read a little bit on the steps.

It was surprisingly comfy!

Anne decided to go exploring for a bit while we read!

 After a while I decided to go find her.

Luckily she was pretty easy to find in her pretty red skirt!

We found these really pretty old graves.

They probably belong to the people who lived here and built the house but they were really hard to read so I'm not sure!

Zia wanted to read one more chapter in her book:

While she did that I decided to go check out the caboose:

Okay yeah, that was a little high up but still it was really neat to be up there!

There are about a billion trees!

  So of course I had to try a few out.

This one was my favorite. Check out that huge knot/hole! It collected some water so it was almost like a natural bird bath. Super cool!

After I got down Zia was ready to do some exploring too and we found this old sign:

It's kind of hard to read but it's from a school I think.

The first line says "County Board of Education"

Zia found an azalea bush:

But they're not blooming yet. We'll have to come back another time!

Did I mention there were lots of buildings?

 I found this one while I was climbing the trees, so I had to get a better look.

It had all sorts of cool signs and stuff in it:

 And I really liked the old door in the leaves!

Here was the old original power plant for the town:

You can still see the machinery and stuff.

It looked like it was going to rain soon so we quickly started heading back to the house. I wanted to check it out before we had to go!

On the way I found this teeny little door.

It's almost my size!

Finally here we are in front of the house! I don't know too much about it but I do know it's really old! Like it was built in 1854.

You can't go inside but you can go on the porch!

It's got lots of cool things. I really thought this door was neat:

It looks like is has wagon wheels or fans on it!

I like them because they're all dusty and rusty :D

And then sadly it was time to go:

I got one more picture and then I had to say goodbye to my new buddies. But I had SO much fun! We're going to play together again sometime! Man what a good day. I hope everyone enjoys all the pictures!
