Nora brings Ilona to visit! PLUS a fun game!

Hi everybody, Callie here! And for once I don't have a quilt block post! I got to go outside today and my neighbor Nora came over with really interesting and exciting news, but before I get to playing outside... let's talk about playing inside a little bit.

I don't know about you guys but it's been really, really wet here. I mean we had sand bags and everything because the weather man said 8 and a half inches of rain in one day! And it rained for weeks! So my brothers and sister and I had to entertain ourselves inside. My friend Peyton (remember her?) told me about this new mobile game called Fallout Shelter so I've been playing that and I love it! Do any of you play? I have pictures!

Peyton is a huge gamer and she says this goes with the Fallout games but I've never played them. Even with that I really enjoy this! Fallout Shelter isn't on android stuff yet but they're working on it. It's totally free which makes it better than that candy crush thing. I'm not really a gamer so after hearing her talk about this and deciding that maybe I could play it, I went to my uncle to see if he could help me! And he did!

This is what it looks like! Basically you build a bunker to protect all the people from the wasteland (which is outside) and you have to keep people working in all of these rooms to keep your stats up (the lightning bolt is power, the knife and fork is food and the drop is water.) Sometimes you get attacked by stuff. Not very many people find your vault so you have to put a guy and a girl in the residence room together so they will breed, which made my mom raise her eyebrows. But if you get past that part it's a really addicting game.

You can rename all your people! This one is my favorite! I decided to give them all silly names and Purvis makes my dad shake his head. I think he secretly wishes he'd named Finch "Purvis." :D

They also collect outfits and guns. This is Gideon in a Pope outfit which makes him super charismatic which means that he flirts faster. The weapons help them fight raiders when they attack and also give them some advantages when they go explore the Wasteland.

Sometimes disasters and accidents occur, which means that either you get attacked by rad roaches or your rooms catch on fire and all the people around (except the pregnant ones and the little kids) have to fight or put the fire out. And then they cheer like they didn't just let their work place catch on fire.

This is Gideon and Mercedes. They've had a baby since this screencap. Her name is Rainbow.

This is the first baby my people had. When they're kids you kind of can't do anything with them for a while, they just drain your resources. So while you want your population to grow, you can't just get everybody pregnant at one time and let them go because then you have like, sixteen kids and you can't keep them fed. So you can only have a couple at a time while your population is still little.

One last thing! You can send people out to the Wasteland to explore and they give you a journal of things that they do. I sent Purvis (of course, but Royce also went and Rocky McRockers is out now) and I think it's pretty entertaining!

But that's really not all I did today! Like I said, I got to go outside since it finally stopped raining.

I took Julie my doll and Ringling outside with me! Ringling got his neck ruffle. It's pink and he's not too thrilled with it but green doesn't look good in circus lights so he'll deal. I was teaching him how to stand on his hind legs and he did pretty good! Merlin got a picture, but it's humid from all the rain and his camera lens got all foggy.

We had just settled down to rest when Ringling the attack doggy heard a noise. It was my neighbor Nora! And she had someone with her!

She told me that her family was hosting a girl who wanted to know more about our country. This is her host sister, Ilona, from Hungary! My grandpa was born in Hungary, too!

Nora is in my class at school. Ringling had to get to know her right away. Nora said that being a host sister was kind of strange at first but really fun overall because it's kind of like adopting a sister, even though Ilona will have to go home sometime. Nora says it's especially neat because she's learning all about Hungary and Europe from Ilona.

Ringling had to get to know Ilona too! Ilona says that she misses her home but she's always wanted to travel and that staying with Nora and her family is really fun. I'm not sure how long she'll be staying but hopefully she'll get to go to school with us next year! She's really mysterious. And that hair! If you wondered, she says it just grows like that.

I learn a lot from my friends! I like to think that they learn a lot from me too. Pretty soon I think I'm going to have everybody over to play in the backyard!

Here is one more of the not-blood sisters!

What are your friends like? And do YOU play any fun mobile games? I'd love to know!
